My Grandma hired a "handy man" while she was sick, and the butchers block countertop seems like absolute shit.
So while my grandma was dying of cancer, she decided she really wanted to redesign the kitchen, which had always been her dream. She hired a handyman that was like a very sweet, gentle person, so he was nice to have around while she was going through treatment all the same, but some of his shit. is really questionable.
This butcher's block countertop is so damn soft. It's been stained by dish soap (wiped immediately) and this dry metal muffin tin sat on there overnight and stained it significantly. I've coated this 14 times in mineral oil. The water finally beads, but this just doesn't seem like it should be a countertop.
Any advice here? I realized it probably should have been sealed in an epoxy or something?
Any advice is appreciated! I'm willing to rip the mother effer out / or just let it sit there and fall apart for a couple years and then replace it. I'm just a grandson who took care of her while she was sick, and now I'm trying to take care of everything on my own in the aftermath. Thanks!
