Need Advice on Humidor

 I received this humidor for my birthday. It was made by my Uncle who’s a great wood worker, but he doesn’t know much about humidors.

I have a couple of concerns -

1. The box is made of solid purple heart wood which I’ve read won’t react well with the humidity needed for cigars. Is there anything I can do to line the inside with cedar and will that be enough?

2. The lid is made of leopard wood and does not seal perfectly with the box. Can I do something to improve the seal?
